This Week At Home 2013, No. 4

Little notes written to remember each precious day...

Monday, the 21st...

The weather has taken a turn back to wintery.  There is snow trying to fall.  It's cold, so it is a very dry snow.      Enough fell that the kids will have to shovel the neighbor's drive.  This was a great day to stay home and concentrate on our lessons.  I always love a great start to our week!  Today, I started working in the master bedroom, Flylady's missions.  I washed our pillows and did a complete purge.

Tuesday, the 22nd...

It was 4 degrees when I woke up this morning.  That's cold for Indiana people.  I know my dear readers in Alaska, Idaho and Minnesota would laugh that I decided to cancel our gym outing today.  Actually, gym was cancelled outright by the teacher, so I didn't feel so silly.  Two days in a row at home will be good for us.  The house is not very well insulated, so I am having trouble getting it to warm up more than the low 60's.  It was 57 in the family room this morning.  Thankfully, this cold won't last forever.

Wednesday, the 23rd...

The sun didn't shine today, making it seem colder, but it was actually in the teens today.  Grace went to art.  She's still working on the portrait of Dorothy.  I can't wait to show you all.  I made a fire in the family room fireplace early today.  It helps.  I wish I could have stayed home and enjoyed it this evening.  AWANA was fun tonight.  It was Dot Night.  Kids got to put stickers on leader's faces for every section said.  I got 15 dots on my face.  One leader beat me by 5 dots.

Thursday, the 24th...

I witnessed a beautiful sunrise this morning.  Today, we worked hard on our lessons, chores, and had a little time for relaxing.  I finished the master bedroom cleaning.  The kids enjoyed some extended Minecraft time this afternoon.  Ryan's new computer is up and running well.  He had to return the motherboard last week.  It impressed me how patient he was.  Great Expectations is getting closer to be finished.  I may have to read another of his books soon.  I love his writing style.  The kids are a little less enchanted.  Tonight is karate and grocery shopping.

Friday, the 25th...

It's the usual small group meeting Friday for us.  We'll finish up our lessons for the week.  We'll clean like mad.  And then we'll enjoy our evening with dear friends. It may snow a little today.  I am hoping for a quiet end to the week.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Jenn

  4. Like usual, sounds like you had a good week. Love the dots on your face. Paulie likes playing Minecraft too. And I won't say anything about the cold weather. I might go out in 4 degree weather, but I don't enjoy it. I keep telling Paul if we ever move, we move south. :)

  5. I can't wait to see Grace's picture either of DD, I bet it's good! And oh yes, how I remember dot-the-leader nights. My face itched just seeing your dots, haha. I'm sorry you are so cold, but I'd love a fire too! Warm Wishes My Friend!

    1. Oh Jane, I thought I was going to have totake those stickers off. The dye smelled awful. They itched. All in the name of Jesus!

  6. We LOVED Great Expectations, too! You're braver than I--we got a book-on-tape from the library, a BBC version narrated by Martin Jarvis. It was outstanding. Wasn't the humor great? It was in our top three favorites of that core. Bet you're getting ready to have some milder weather! Think camping...

    1. Reading GE out loud has been challenging for certain! Yes, warmer temps make me think of camping!

  7. Oh, we had terribly cold weather too, but we have better insulation. We'd better! It was almost -20F here for a few nights! I stay inside as much as I can. But we're expecting lots of rain tomorrow, so temperatures are going up. :)

But I grew up in Manitoba, and have been outside in colder than -40. The air does have a lovely taste at that temperature, believe it or not.

Sounds like you had a wonderful week!
